FinOps

The FinOps module provides cloud cost visibility, optimization recommendations, and budget management. It connects to your cloud provider billing data and correlates costs with services, teams, and incidents tracked in AtlasAI.

Key Features

  • Cost dashboard — Real-time and historical cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Service-level cost allocation — Map cloud costs to services and teams using tags, labels, and CMDB relationships
  • Anomaly detection — AI-powered alerts when spending patterns deviate from expected baselines
  • Optimization recommendations — Identify rightsizing opportunities, unused resources, and reserved instance savings
  • Budget management — Set budgets per team, service, or environment with threshold alerts
  • Showback/chargeback — Generate cost allocation reports for internal billing
  • Incident cost impact — Estimate the financial impact of incidents (e.g., an outage costing $X/minute in lost revenue)
  • Forecasting — Project future spending based on historical trends and planned capacity changes

How to Access

Navigate to FinOps in the left sidebar. The overview shows total spend, top cost drivers, and budget status.

Basic Usage

  1. Open FinOps from the sidebar
  2. Connect your cloud billing data under FinOps → Data Sources (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing)
  3. Review the Cost Dashboard to see spending trends and top cost drivers
  4. Navigate to Optimization to see AI-generated recommendations for cost reduction
  5. Set budgets under FinOps → Budgets with alert thresholds (e.g., “Alert at 80%, escalate at 100%”)
  6. View Service Costs to see per-service cost breakdown mapped to your CMDB services
  7. Generate a Chargeback Report under FinOps → Reports for internal cost allocation
